What to Do With Keywords Once You've Found Them
Once you have your keywords ready for a certain niche, you might be wondering what you're supposed to do with these them in order to rank in the search engines. Think about what makes the web go 'round -- content! People are constantly searching for information on the Web. The information they seek is found in content.
This content is analyzed by the search engines and ranked for particular terms. For example, if you write an article about "How to Make Organic Baby Food" and you put that phrase in your title and in your article, the search engines are likely to understand that your article is about how to make organic baby food.
This increases your chances of ranking in the results if someone types "how to make organic baby food" in a search engine. By making the content on your website relevant to the keyword you are trying to target, you increase your chances of ranking for that term.
As a general rule, you want to use your keyword in your title, the meta tags on your website, in the first paragraph, in the body, and in the conclusion of your article. You are basically giving the search engines a helping hand in ranking your article, or website, for a particular search term.
Of course, it's not always guaranteed that you will rank for the exact term you want (for that you'll need to learn more about search engine optimization), but it definitely increases your chances!
There are other ways to use keywords as well. If you've typed searches into Google, Yahoo, and Bing, you have probably seen that there are advertisements along with the natural search results.
These are paid advertisements. You can use the keywords you find in paid advertisements, such as Google's Adwords. You'll bid on these terms, making it easy for you to appear for the search terms you desire. Some terms require a higher payment per click than others.
This is just to give you a rough idea of how you might use keywords. Your end goal is to make money online -- but you need to be sure you are choosing the right keywords. Choosing profitable keywords is somewhat of an art form, but it also isn't that difficult with the right tools. You need to make sure you're utilizing your keywords in the right way so you can rank either organically in the natural search results, or in the paid results for the keyword you are targeting.
